BOCH - Docu-Series Trailer
The Atikokan Native Friendship Centre is the Executive Producer of a new TV docuseries that launches the Spring 2021. The series highlights the challenges that Indigenous youth have experienced in the child welfare system through the eyes of real people, not actors. The highly informative BOCH docu-series will chronicle their journey into adulthood and parenthood while revealing the Indigenous teachings that help guide them into the future. The series will also provide hope and inspiration for the next generations of children and youth.
The docu-series starts with the vision of an Indigenous youth, Blade, who was in and out of foster and group homes in Canada’s broken child welfare system. When he was a teenager and aged out of supports from the child welfare system, Blade ended up on the streets and became involved in gang life in NW Ontario. He is one of the strong ones. He managed to survive. Blade’s vision is a safe space where at-risk Indigenous youth can be educated, learn life skills, and most importantly, be immersed in the traditional ways of the Anishinaabe people. A nurturing place and space where love for self and others thrive.
